What was your May 17th like? Mine? Some very
eventful, crazy fun. J
Every year towards the end of the
school year, BFA holds a banquet for all the juniors and seniors called Junior
Senior Banquet. This year’s JSB was held
at a local German church’s banquet hall where all the upper classmen were
served a nice dinner and were entertained with a variety of student led singers,
bands, and performances. In essence,
it’s what everyone else probably knows of as prom.
Getting ready.
Usually JSB
is held on a Saturday, but this year it was on a Friday, which meant that we
had 13 girls scurrying home from school to get all dazzled up in a short 2
hours for their big evening. At Witt,
the RAs and any other female staff at school set up our living room into a
giant prep room with stations all throughout where we help some girls do their
hair, makeup, and any other last minute touches before we take pictures and
send them off to their big night.
All 13 juniors and seniors of Witt.
Our 5 juniors.
And 8 seniors.
Once all
the upper classmen are at their banquet, the sophomores usually plan a fun
evening for the freshman. But this year,
we don’t have any freshman, so we staff got together with the sophomores and
planned some fun stuff. To start off the
night, we took our 5 sophomores down to the Rhine River where we enjoyed a
picnic of doner wraps (a beloved Middle Eastern dish). Then we came back to the dorm and made shamrock
shakes for the girls while they made a giant blanket fort to watch the movie
Shrek in. Sounds like a really simple evening for them, but it was a blast and I
think the girls really enjoyed it.

Picnic!
Some more playing.

Once JSB
finishes at 10pm, the seniors stay for a dance party until midnight, while the
juniors get picked up. To surprise the
girls and keep up a Witt tradition from 2 years ago, I picked 4 of our juniors
up and took them to McDonalds for McFlurries.
The girls had such a ball going to a fast food place in their nice
dresses and actually enjoyed all the glances and stares.

At midnight
we picked our 8 seniors up from the dance, guided our juniors to bed, and woke
our sleepy sophomores up from under their fort and sent them off to sleep, and
thus ended our very crazy, eventful, fun evening.
